She was predeceased by: her parents, Ezra Lester and Vida T. Whiten Lester; and her siblings, Fannie B. Cole, Tommie D. Singleton, Dorothy Evans, Doris Herod, Lois M. Tatum, Oneida Johnson, Essie B. Taylor, Charles Lester and Murray Lester.

She is survived by: her son David J. Phillips (Territha); her grandchildren, Attallah, Akilah Phillips, Ken and Madissen Davis; and her brother William Lester (Lue Nell). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
