He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Byrd and Stella Hodges (Rodgers); his sisters, Opal Byrd Hines and Bonnie Hodges Gordon; and his stepbrothers, Lowell Hodges, Billy Jo Hodges and Garris Hodges.
He is survived by: his wife Esther Ruth Byrd (Murff); his children, Gordon (Kim Byrd), Paul (Krystal Byrd), Janet (John Dufilho) and Jeana (Eric Goodson); and his grandson Gordon Jr.. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
