He was predeceased by: his parents, Melton Stuard Thacker and Bennie Lillian Hoyle; his wife LaVoe "Bodie" Thacker; and his sister Joyce Smith. He is survived by: his former wife Lucille Tince Fonde; his sons, Joe Melton Thacker, Jr. (Ann), John Reed Thacker (Jana) and Jeffrey Clyde Thacker (Pam); his grandchildren, Amy Smith (Chris), Melanie Paul (Matt), Bradley Thacker (Weslyn), Blair Wilson (Brad), Amanda Smith (Justin), Isaiah Thacker and Emmalea Thacker; his great grandchildren, Dane Smith, Scout Smith, Berkley Paul, Beckham Paul, Brenner Paul, Charlee Thacker and Edee Thacker; and his brother Max Thacker (Jane) of Grapevine.
