He was predeceased by: his parents, Abel Hamerstrom and Laura Hamerstrom (Henningfield). He is survived by: his wife Anna Marie "Tike" Schilling; and his children, Laura Hardzinski (Tom) of Flower Mound, Mike Hammerstrom (Teri) of Phillips and Rob Hammerstrom of Flower Mound. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
