“Cliff lost a younger brother in the Korean War. Donald Stump, Adel Class of 1947, was part of the 2nd Infantry Division and killed in action (KIA) on July 22, 1952. The last three stops Cliff could see where the community honored his fallen brother. There are inlayed bricks at the Veterans Plaza near the entrance of the Oakdale Cemetery here in Adel. Here is an image of Donald Stump's brick:”

“We had a group of Veterans, Family and Friends attend a luncheon at the American Legion Post here in Adel. We were joined by Carroll York, a Legion Post #464 member and WWII veteran. Cliff and Carroll each described their service and experiences in the European Theatre, and then answered questions from the group. It was a very fascinating to hear their stories and it was an honor for all of us to be in the presence of heroes:”
