He was predeceased by: his father Eugene Schmidt; and his sister Eugenie "Genie" Fuhrman. He is survived by: his mother Gladys Schmidt (Rodiek); his daughters, Tish Muniz (Aaron) of La Grange and Ashley Schmidt (Brad) of Giddings; his siblings, Stephan Schmidt (Barbara) and Susan Welch (Phillip); his brother-in-law Stephen Fuhrman; and his grandchildren, Reece Kollaja, Kole Krnavek and Kylie Schmidt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of one's choice.
