He was predeceased by: his sons, Delta Airlines and Paul (Sonia) of Dallas; his parents, Gerry Schmeltz and Ella Schmeltz of Kansas City; and his sister Mary Anne Schmeltz of Kansas City.

He is survived by: his sons, John (Kathy) of Dallas and Tom of Dallas; his wife Joan Wiederholt; and his daughters, Terri Feuerborn (Chris) of Louisburg, KS., Judy Evans (Mike) of Rowlett, TX. and Barbara Newey (Mike) of Austin, TX.. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and his 21 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either Mary Immaculate School, Town North YMCA, Scottish Rite Hospital or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
