He was predeceased by: his parents, Talmadge A. Cates and Maud B. Cates; his daughter Laura Cates Budzinski; and his parents-in-law, Richard M. (Dick) and Marie Lawrence.
He is survived by: his wife Susie; his children, Lynette Cates Jones of Arlington, TX, Jennifer Cates Andjelic (Mike) of Livingston, TX, Sarah Cates Megale of Galveston, TX, Sabrina Awalt Keller of Colorado Springs, CO and Andy Awalt (Tracy) of Fairfield, TX; his son-in-law Brad Budzinski of Bentonville, AR; his grandchildren, Stephen (Natalie), Brandon Jones (Frances), Garrett, Abby Farley, Alexa, Adam, Owen Megale, Cameron Budzinski, Evan, Ryan Keller, Lucas and Jacob Awalt; and his great grandchildren, Ellie, Maddox and Josie Jones.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist - Fairfield (201 N Mount St, Fairfield, TX 75840). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Fairfield First United Methodist Church or charity of your choice.
