She was predeceased by: her parents, Lacy Turner and Thelma Whisenhunt Turner; her daughter Carolina Simpson Loden; and her siblings, Betty Oats, Evelyn Splawn, Lo Dickerson, Myrina Vaughn, Jerald and Manuel Turner.

She is survived by: her children, Serena Simpson of Malakoff, Thelma (Timothy Wright), Emmett Simpson Sr. of Mabank and Maurice (Reva Simpson); her grandchildren, Shawna, Daniel, Ashley, Rodney, Robert, Timothy, Vhelma, Amanda, Caleb, Ryan, Jamie, Amy and Emmett, Jr.; her close friend Earl Baker of Eustace; and her brother Eldon Turner of Cooper. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
