He was predeceased by: his parents, Buford Alvin and Mildred Irene Phillips (Shults); his daughter-in-law Patsy Dawson-Shelton; his siblings, Milford (Betty Phillips), Douglas (Patsy Phillips), Ruth Waldon and Maetta Rice; and his brother-in-law Bob Waldon.
He is survived by: his wife Dee Phillips of Eula; his children, Rodney Holloway (Julie) of Eula, James "Jay" Shelton of Eula, Michael "Mickey" Phillips (Buford) of Eula and Sherry Phillips of Belton; his sister Juanita Shirley (Wayne) of San Antonio; his siblings-in-law, Connie Phillips of Harker Heights and Leon Brian of Comanche; his grandchildren, Amiee Shelton, Timothy Dawson, Zeke and Bodie Phillips; and his close friends, Myrl and Kim Hill.
