He is survived by: his parents, Jose Salomon and Maria Chavez; his wife Antonia Casablanca; his children, Jose Salomon Chavez, Joelia Chavez, Marta Cano, Gilberto Chavez Jr., Albert Chavez, Monica Chavez Garza, Gabriel Chavez, Diana Guerrero and David Casablanca; and his siblings, Catarina Bazan, Eva Valdez, Ricardo Chavez, Petra "Tita" Mercer and Maria Bitonel. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren.
