He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cook and Mary Francis James; and his wife Beverly James. He is survived by: his children, Bill (Darlene James), Bryan (Sandi James) and Jennifer James of San Antonio, Texas; his siblings, Lynda Lamprecht of Trustville, Alabama and John; his sister-in-law Debbie James of Austin, Texas; his sister Liz; his brother-in-law Joe Duncan of Austin, Texas.; his grandchildren, Joshua Wade James, Jacob Thomas James, John William James, Erin Elizabeth James, Emily Lauren James and Aliyah Elizabeth James; his great grandchild Josie Elizabeth James; and his pet Lucy.

Tom was a devout member of St. James Episcopal Church and the family requests that memorials be made to his parish.
