He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Chovanec and Celestine Orsak Chovanec; and his siblings, Margie Kneblik, Clement and Frank Chovanec.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Haney Chovanec of El Campo; his daughters, Pamela Zalman Fontenot of El Campo, Beverly Longoria of El Campo, Wendy Stehling (Bob) of Austin, Jamie Ronacker (Karl) of Dallas and Chris Brand (Bill) of Conroe; his grandchildren, Ashley Labay (Sterling), Ross, Hunter Hrncir, Zoey Zalman, Jacob, Mason Longoria, Bailey Stehling, Jordan O'Leary (Andi), Amanda Plymate (Sean) and Kevin Jefferson (Shannon); and his great grandchildren, Bristol, Gage Labay, Sawyer and Luke Jefferson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations in memory of Jimmie may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
