He was predeceased by: his parents, George Vargas and Felicita Marin; his stepfather Charlie Sagala; his daughter-in-law Brandi Vargas; and his granddaughter Heavenly Angel Mesa.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Vargas; his siblings, Theodore Vargas (Lole), Carol Jo Vargas Lynch and Linda Sagala; and his children, Herlinda Tijerina, Greg Vargas III (Christina Vargas), David Vargas (Stacey Vargas), Eric Vargas (Jamie Perry), Evelyn Mesa (Hector Mesa), Julie Ann Vargas (Jose Velazquez), Rita Vargas, Mario Contreras (Maria Contreras), Cecil Garza (Ashley Martinez), Zachary Vargas and Felisita Vargas (Elesar Gomez). He is also survived by twenty five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
