He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Ermis and Rosie Kutach Ermis; his former wife Lorine Ermis; his siblings, Justin Ermis, Wilbur, Elmer, David and Dorothy; his nephews, Ryan Ermis and Aaron Ermis; and his niece Shelly Ermis.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Ermis of El Campo; his children, Brenda Ermis (Paul Smith) of Corpus Christi, Janet Ermis of El Campo and Robert Ermis (Darla) of Louise; his stepsons, Daryl Brandes (Michelle) of Louise and Clayton Brandes of El Campo; his grandchildren, Phillip Fowler (Cristina), Stephanie Fowler (Brian), Justin Carillo (Kasey), Will Ermis, Sanae Sheldon (Max) and Preston Brandes; his siblings, Barbara Socha (Jodie) of El Campo, Rosetta Damuth of New Braunfels, Lorane Kocurek of Alvin, Clarence Ermis (MaryAnn) of Alvin, Larry Ermis (Becky) of Bryan and Tony Ermis (Cathy) of El Campo; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Sauers of Santa Fe and Carolyn Ermis. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
