It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Connie Vargas of El Campo, Texas, born in Inez, Texas, who passed away on July 28, 2020, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Manuel Basquez and Antonio Perez Basquez; her husband Gregorio Vargas, Sr.; her children, Arnold Louis Escamilla and Carol Contreras; her sisters, Alice, Adelina, Anita and Olivia Basquez; her grandson Christopher Escamilla; and her great great grandchild Lilyanna Flores.
She is survived by: her children, Mario Escamilla (Lupe) of El Campo, Gilbert Escamilla (JoAnn) of El Campo, Robert Escamilla of El Campo, Manuel Escamilla of El Campo, Mark Vargas of El Campo, Sandra Carrion (Fred) of El Campo and Debra Escamilla of El Campo; her daughter-in-law Lori Escamilla of Edinburg; and her brother Manuel Basquez, Jr. of Bay City. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
At the request of the family, memorials may be made to St. Phillip's Catholic Church, in memory of Connie.
