He was predeceased by: his parents, Mike Dettling and Albertha Dettling; his son Matthew; and his brother-in-law John Rees. He is survived by: his wife Susan Waligura Dettling of El Campo; his children, Amy Dettling Perez (Vanessa) and Neal Dettling (Brittany) of New Braunfels; his grandson Owen Lewis; and his siblings, Linda Rees of San Antonio, Butzi Vacek (Mike) of Austin, Sherry Hoffman (Darby) of Garwood, Carl Dettling and Russell Dettling (Barbara) of El Campo. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations in memory of Chris may be made to St. Philip Catholic Church, St. Philip School or Wharton County Cares.
