He was predeceased by: his parents, Matias Ochoa Sr. and Frances Villarreal Ochoa; his sons, Benino Ochoa Jr., Fabian Ochoa and Timothy Ochoa; his siblings, Mary Alice Garcia (Thomas) and Robert Ochoa Sr.; his siblings-in-law, Leonardo Nunez Sr. and Renee Ann Ochoa; his nephew Thomas "Kookie" Garcia Jr.; and his niece Traci Lynn Ortiz.

He is survived by: his children, Tammy Ferrel (Mike), Dawn Ochoa, Travis Grossman (David), Rene Ochoa Sr. (Jolynn), Bernadette Adase and Ray Ochoa (Natalia); his grandchildren, R. J. Rubesh, Breanna McCracken (Blake), Logan Ferrel, Amanda Clinard, Drew Ferrel, Michaela Ferrel, Darianno Aguirre, Rene Ochoa Jr. (Rosie), Megan Ochoa, Brooke Hepburn (Dominic), T. J. Ochoa, Brittany Biskup (Chance), Maggie Ochoa, Leslie Adase, Tiffany Delgado (Yrven) and Bobbie Jo Adase; his great grandchildren, Beckham McCracken, Bryce McCracken, Christopher Ochoa, Hailey Ochoa, Case Ochoa, Titiana Hepburn, Ramon Castillo, Stella Garza, Anthony Salgado, Evan Flores, Reign Flores and Ophelia Calzada; and his siblings, Dalia Nunez, Matias Ochoa Jr. (Sandy), Rudy Ochoa (Sally), Jimbo Ochoa and Alfred Ochoa.
