He is survived by: his wife Edna Ortega; his children, Geraldo Ortega (Yolanda), Cynthia Escobedo, Loretta Galindo, Gilberto Ortega II, Lupita Ortega Garza (Demo) and Rose Paez (Tommy); and his siblings, Basilio Ortega (Concha) and Argentina Ortega. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
