He was predeceased by: his parents, Enrique Maldonado and Baleria S. Maldonado; his siblings, Crisoforo Maldonado (Braulia), Eliberto Maldonado (Cresencia), Noe Maldonado (Irene), Adan Maldonado (Lydia), Rene Maldonado (Beatrice), Reynaldo Maldonado (Aida) and Celia Maldonado; his son-in-law Humberto A. Serna; and his grandchildren, Criselda V. Gonzalez, Gilbert Jr., Cecilia Moreno and Delicea Moreno.

He is survived by: his wife Diorica Maldonado; his children, Yolanda Garza (Rafael) of Edinburg, Alicia Serna (Humberto) of Edinburg, Naela Moreno of Edinburg, Elva Luna (Armando) of Edinburg, Santos Maldonado, Jr. (Michelle) of Edinburg and Elizabeth Ortega (Rene) of Edinburg; his brother Enrique Maldonado (Margaret) of Edinburg; and his grandchildren, Ramon Garza, Ricardo Moreno, Daniel Moreno, Alex Moreno, Santos Maldonado, III and Rolando Gonzalez. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
