Minerva Rendon Ortega Obituary
MCALLEN - Minerva Rendon Ortega, 75, went to her eternal home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 10, 2023, in McAllen. Minerva fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith (II Timothy 4:7). Minerva was preceded in death by her parents, Casimiro R. Rendon and Amelia Rendon; her sister, Elia Mancha; three brothers, C.R. Rendon Jr, Roberto Rendon, and Joel Rendon; brother-in-law, Phil LaRock.
Minerva graduated from Edinburg High School in 1966 and received a music scholarship to Del Mar college in Corpus Christi. She also attended The University of Texas Pan American. Minerva worked over 30 years with Southwestern Bell and always volunteered selflessly with the Special Olympics during her daughter Victoria's school years. She was also very involved with the adult daycare her daughter Victoria would attend.
Ms. Ortega is survived by her daughters, Veronica A Ortega (Eddie), and Victoria F Ortega; three grandchildren, Eerie V. Delgado, Edward L. Bennett, and Emily G. Bennett; a great-grandson, Paul R Navarro; her brother, Wylie Rendon (Alda); a sister, Amy LaRock; her sisters-in-law, Alfa Rendon, and Sylvia Rendon; former husband, Frank Ortega; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
Fuenral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
