He is survived by: his wife Maria Cristina Mercado; his children, Manuel Mercado IV, Amanda Marie Mercado and Josue Mercado; his grandsons, Carlos Manuel Mercado and Sebastian Manuel Mercado; his siblings, Velma Ochoa, Fernando Mercado, Carlos Mercado and Yvette Mercado Balli; and his close friend Elena Trevino.
