He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Mendoza and Juanita DeLeon Mendoza; his wife Guadalupe V. Mendoza; his sister Rosa Cantu; and his siblings-in-law, Alicia Mendoza and Enrique Quintero.
He is survived by: his children, Roberto Villarreal (Juanita), Juan Rogelio Mendoza, Jr. (Lily), Ana Espinoza (Leonardo), Aida Mendoza, Armalinda Mendoza (Rosella Tavarez), Rolando Mendoza (Susana) and Gloria Mendoza; his siblings, Ruben Mendoza, Sr. and Cristina Ramona Quintero; and his brother-in-law Daniel Cantu. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
