He was predeceased by: his father Domingo Melendez Sr.. He is survived by: his children, Jose J. "Jay" Melendez Jr. (Aurora) and Lori Lopez (Leo); his grandchildren, Victoria, Vivian, Eric, Aysha, Brandon and Dominic; his great grandchild Kevin Scott; his mother Juanita Melendez; and his siblings, Domingo Melendez Jr., Pete Melendez (Haydee), Fina Antu (David), Rosa Salazar (Joe), Linda Buchanan (Terry), David Melendez, Sonia Vazquez (Luis) and Javier Melendez. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
