He is survived by: his wife Blanca Doris Syvertsen; his children, Edith Osio, Julie Smithwick, John Kelly Hirlas (Michelle), Dominga Gonzalez (Bob), Eddie Hirlas (Alba) and Carmen De La (Miguel); and his brother John William Syvertsen Jr.. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
