He was predeceased by: his parents, Antonio Vela and Flor Vela; and his brothers, Efren and David Vela. He is survived by: his wife Dinorah Vela; his children, Steve Rolando Vela (Ariedny) and Mayela Sulay Vela; his grandchildren, Christian, Aubriella, Aaralynn and Noah; and his siblings, San Juanita Vela, Adan Vela and Gilbert Vela. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
