He was predeceased by: his parents, Marcelo Silva and Juliana Pena Garcia; his siblings, Elia Silva Meador and David Garcia; and his brother-in-law Bill Matlock.

He is survived by: his daughter Elisa S. Perez (John Jr.); his grandchildren, Bryan D. Lopez (Carmen), Briana A. Stevenson (Myles), Amanda B. Cortez (Aaron), Jonah Z. Perez, Alyssa M. Perez and Phelicity A. Perez; his sisters, Esiquia Escobar (Omar), Beatriz Johnson (Dave) and Martha Matlock; and his friend Lucky. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
