He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfonso Alberto Champion and Adelina Cerda Champion; and his sisters, Eva Champion, Diana Champion Chebuk and Yolanda Champion Liles.

He is survived by: his children, Joseph Albert Champion (Amy Evelyn Crews) and Stephnie Reneé Champion (Carlos David Alfaro); the mother of his children Rosalinda Alaniz Champion; his siblings, Tommie Champion Gonzales, Adelina Champion Gonzales and Adan Champion; and also, David Alexander Champion, Charles Albert Champion, Samuel Joseph Champion and Mariella Alyssa Vasquez.
