He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Mack York Sr. and Georgia Augusta Wetzel; his wife Mary Lou Davis York; and his sisters, Joann Carroll and Shirley York.

He is survived by: his children, Johnny (Rita York) of Eddy, Tammy (Doug Childs) of Whitney and Bradley York of Waco; and his grandchildren, Debby York, Stacy Isom, Kelly York, Christi Alejo, Cory Childs and Casey Childs. He is also survived by three children, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
