He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Karasek and Annie Karasek (Hanzelka); his wife Joan Marie Bartosh; his brother Larry "Boots" Karasek; and his grandson Cody Karasek.
He is survived by: his children, Gene Karasek Jr. (Barbara) of Richmond, Rita Kelly (Sean) of Rosenberg and Philip Karasek (Kelly) of East Bernard; his great grandchildren, Ashton Kelly Tilley (Jeremy) of Garland, Christopher Karasek of Rosenberg, Trey Karasek of Richmond and Garrett Kelly of Rosenberg; and his sister Geraldine Kirchner of El Campo. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren.
