He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Prince Carl Shafer and Edna Marie Bryant; his wife Betty Jean Barosh; his children, Richard Allen Shafer (Lisa) of Caldwell, Kathy Carrithers McFerren (Tom) of Canton, Janis Shafer Countiss (Marc) of Sugar Land and Jeanette Shafer Penn (Alan) of Houston, Texas; and his siblings, Geneva Irene Houston of Bloomington, Loretta Jean Krause of Monroeville, Edna Marie Favre of Terre Haute, Bessie Mae Firmani of Seattle and James Allen Shafer of Terre Haute, Indiana.. He was also cherished by nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
