He was predeceased by: his parents, Albin Barta and Julie Barta; and his siblings, Viola Grahman, Dorothy Brunkenhoffer and Eugene Barta of Halletsville, Texas..

He is survived by: his wife Estelle Gerlich; his children, David Barta of Houston, Robert Barta of Richmond, Ronald Barta (Cathy) of East Bernard, Patricia Chmelik of Richmond and Sharon Janicek (Ronald) of Sealy; and his great grandchildren, Stella, James Burson and Ivanka Chavez.

Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church or the American Legion Post of East Bernard.
