He is survived by: his wife Sharon Jackson Smith; his daughter Rachea Amdemariam (Girmay) of Houston, Texas; his sister Nancy Newcomb of Bartonsville, Pennsylvania; and his grandchildren, Gebreyella, Rahel and Giles Amdemariam.
