He was predeceased by: his parents, J. B. James and Magoline James (Bearden); his daughter Crystal Kay James; and his siblings, Jeanette Pellham and Harold Ray James.
He is survived by: his children, Clifford James (Kalette) of Tampa, Florida and Lacretia Roland of Earth, Texas; his sisters, Linda Duckworth of Springlake, Renay Bell of Amarillo and Jennifer Pellham of Mansfield, Texas; his grandchildren, Whitney Smith, Tyler Bosman, Shayla Samarron, Kourtlyn James, Copeland James and Cutter James; and his great grandchildren, Miracle Samarron, Dorrian Samarron, Caleb Samarron, Austin Bosman, Abigail Bosman, Angel Bosman and Khailynn Smith.
