He was predeceased by: his parents, Aniceta Guillen and Francisco Montalvo Trevino; and his daughter Elsa Abigail Noack. He is survived by: his wife Elsa Montalvo; his son Caleb Montalvo; his granddaughter Grace Evelyn Warwick; his siblings, Frank Montalvo, Maribel Montalvo and Sonia Martinez (Carlos); and his nieces and nephews, Carlos Martinez (Christina), Anthony Martinez, Vincent Martinez, Nathan Guadarrama, Beatriz Andrade (Julio), Amy Sauceda (Roberto) and Alicia Montalvo.
