He was predeceased by: his parents, Tiny Roten and Marie Roten (Gaither); and his brother Mike Roten. He is survived by: his wife Chunli Tang; and his children, Chad Roten, John Fields Roten (Alyssa), Marilyn Boyett (Danny Boyett) and Amelia Roten. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
