It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phillip L. Poffenbarger (Dickinson, Texas), born in Lafayette, Indiana, who passed away on January 17, 2020, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Valentine Poffenbarger and Lillian Poffenbarger; and his pet Tootsie. He is survived by: his pet Max; his wife Joan Poffenbarger; his children, Tim Poffenbarger of Houston, TX, Mark Poffenbarger of Seattle, Christine Henderson of Caddo, Betty Poffenbarger of Port Angeles, Dr. Jeffrey Poffenbarger of Cody and Toner Eren Poffenbarger of Seattle; his stepchildren, Mike Williams of Houston, Carla Williams Davis of Dickinson, Dusty Williams and Chase Williams; and his sister Kay Farmer of Franklin, Tennessee.. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of customary remembrances a memorial donation may be given, in Dr. Phillip Poffenbarger name to: Carpenter's House Church in La Marque, Texas to help support the Bible College and teachings of God's word.

“I would like to extend my condolence to the Poffenbarger family on the loss of Dr. Phillip Poffenbarger. Although I have not seen the family members for some years, I knew Phil and his wife Muazzez, the mother of the four boys and two girls, when Phil was a faculty member at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I was a family friend and spent many memorable moments with them. I will always remember Phil as a kind and gentle person, anyone would like to have as a friend.”
