He was predeceased by: his parents, Eli Poole and Mattie Poole; his children, Samantha Poole and Edward Johnson; his sister Alma; his brother-in-law Bunelle Hoyle; and his brother Larry Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Poole; his children, Crystal Poole, Melanie Poole, Rhonda (Osborne Taylor), Reginald (Shereeka Gilliand), Robinette (Hershey Ward), Robert (Francessca Holman) and Houston Gilliand; and his brothers, Morris Smith and Marcus Smith. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and extended family.
