She was predeceased by: her parents, Loretta Staton (McCarty) and Milton Staton; and her siblings, Charles "Chuck" Staton (Jan) and Dale Bollier (Kenneth). She is survived by: her husband Joe Bob Thigpen; her sons, Robert Wayne Thigpen and Timothy "Shane" Thigpen (Angela); her grandchildren, Clayton Wayne Thigpen, Ashley Nichole Thigpen and JoAnna Elizabeth Thigpen; her sisters-in-law, Melba Poskey and Earline Thigpen; her sisters, Sue Pounds and Sara Zavalla (Abel); and her friend Betty Martin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Thigpen's memory may be made to Burke United Methodist Church, 124 Blue Jay Street, Burke, TX 75941.
