He is survived by: his son Juan Anthony Gauna; his stepdaughter Jessica Gomez; and his siblings, Ernesto M. Gauna, Cruz Gauna of D'Hanis, Dominga Valdez (Ernesto) of Dallas and Arlene Hernandez (Randy) of Poteet. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
