He was predeceased by: his daughter Shanda Edwards; his father Harrell Butts; and his father-in-law Johnny Sims Jr.. He is survived by: his pet Ranger of Ladner's Yellow Blackmouth Cur; his wife Rhonda Sims Butts; his children, Brittany Blakesley (Chris), Ty Broussard, Seth Courtney and Kirby Courtney (Hope Hodge); his grandchildren, Krista Edwards (Nathan Parker), Tristin Edwards, Gavin Comer, Gabe Comer, Adalayn Blakesley and Weston Broussard; his great grandchild Oakley Parker; his mother Ada Butts; his siblings, Harrell Butts Jr. (Len Bennett), Taeresa Holloway (Lynn Johnson), Brian Courtney and Darrell Courtney; his mother-in-law Carol Sims; and his nephew Jonathan Sims (Lainey DeNaé Butts). He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the First Baptist Church - Deweyville (644 State Highway 272, Deweyville, TX 77614). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Wilkinson Cemetery.
