He was predeceased by: his parents, William Joseph Oppelt, Sr. and Maude Caroline Newman Oppelt; and his siblings, Milton, William Joseph Jr., Eugene, James Anthony Oppelt, Caroline Wilhelmina Hall, Virginia Schleicher and Laura Matilda Oppelt.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Oppelt of Devine; his sons, John (Laurie Oppelt) and Thomas (Margaret Oppelt); his grandson Henry Louis Oppelt; his stepgrandson Ray Swyers; and his sister-in-law Laurel D'Orsogna (Al) of La Coste. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
