He was predeceased by: his brothers, Malcolm, Jimmy, Ben and Glenn; his grandson Colt Hoyt; and his son-in-law Butch Hoyt.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Shelby of Detroit; his children, Alan Shelby (Debbie) of Detroit, Cindy Hoyt of Detroit and Theresa Parham (Mike); his grandsons, Gary Shelby and Stephen Shelby (Chandra); his great grandchildren, Devon Shelby (Kayla) and Caleb Shelby; and his great great grandchildren, Elsie and Helen Shelby.
