He was predeceased by: his wife Norma Sue Cherry; his son Gary Owens; his parents, Jim Cherry and Letres Cherry; and his siblings, Darrell Cherry and Marie Wheatley.
He is survived by: his children, Letris Stewart (David) of Deport, Juanita Barton (Leon) of Tool, Walter Y. Woolard (Sabrina) of Kemp, Lawanda Sykes (Jeff) of Paris and Regina Miller Black (Jeff) of Deport; his sister Betty Ann Smith (Grant) of Deport; and his friends, Evelyn Davidson and Liz Clark. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
