He was predeceased by: his parents, Dahlia Hummel (Carpenter) and Ernest Hummel; and his daughter Tawana. He is survived by: his wife Suellen Hummel of Denver City; his son Franklin Gerald Hummel, Jr. (Penny) of Pleasanton, Texas; and his siblings, Larry Hummel of Eunice and Carolyn Brannon of New Town, Missouri. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
Gerald collected aluminum can tabs and donated them to the Ronald McDonald House.
