He was predeceased by: his mother Dosia Agnes Rupert. He is survived by: his son Willis Oscar Shelton; his brother Jerry (Mia) of Plano; his daughter Leslie (Richard) of Evanston; and his grandchildren, Molly (Peter Alexieff) and Tom of Chicago.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home (705 N Locust St, Denton, TX 76201). A memorial service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
He served on the Texas Supreme Court Task Force on Judicial Ethics, became President of the Dallas Press Club, and Secretary of the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas, later becoming its Director.
