He was predeceased by: his wife Joann Smith; his daughter JoJo Smith; and his brothers, Ray, Doug and Roy.

He is survived by: his son Chad Smith; his grandchildren, Hunter Petersen, Q. T. Luck and Britnee Ray; his great grandchild Jett Petersen; and his siblings, Gene Smith, Jim Branch and Irene Russell.
