Richard James Talley Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard James Talley of Denison, Texas, born in Altadena, California, who passed away on April 17, 2022 at the age of 72. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Richard James Talley to pay them a last tribute.
"Red" as he was known to most, lived a nomadic lifestyle, working and living in various cities, states and countries during his life. He served in the US Marines during the Vietnam war, and during his years working in the oilfield traveled to Sudan, Nigeria, Guatemala and several US states including California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. After retirement, he settled in Fulton, Texas until hurricane Harvey forced him to relocate to Denison. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, fishing, watching football, and riding his Harley Davidson cross country.
"Red" was a huge fan of the band ZZ Top and was often seen wearing a long beard like the band members. While living in Canyon City, Colorado in the early 2000s, he volunteered to dress up as the town Santa Claus and made several appearances around the town, delighting young and old alike.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Adas Talley Jr. and Theola Savage Talley; and sister, Joan Peters.
He was loved and will be missed by many people including : his daughter Holly Lindamood of Denison, TX; his son Flynn Talley and wife Michelle, of Denison, TX; 7 Grandchildren: Brianna Hajkowksi, Colby Talley, Delanie Hajkowksi, Andrew Micheli, Flynn Talley, Myra Talley, Karleigh Cripe, and Great-Granddaughter Ella Rose; Sisters, Kathi Shupe of California and Janet Peters of Missouri; and brother Jim Peters of Texas.
