He was predeceased by: his father Karl Horton Sr.; his wife Peggy Horton; his stepfather Lee Carter; his grandparents, James and Marie Smith; his aunt Sharon Bailey; his uncle Glen Warren; and his cousins, Cristal McBrayer and Johnny Joe Richardson.
He is survived by: his mother Linda Carter; his sons, Karl Richard Nyland and Kyle Dillon Nyland; his siblings, Carla Horton, Misty Coget and Larry Don Carter (Michelle Bartley); his aunts and uncles, Gayle (Larry House), Susan (Jimmie Measles) and Larry (Chiquita Smith); and his close friends, Roger Flynn, Shawn Flynn and Frog. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
