He was predeceased by: his parents, D. P. Sargent and Stella Sargent; his siblings, Elvy, Clydene, James, Earl and Rhett; and his great grandchild Hayes Dodson.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Sargent of College Station; his children, Pamela Sargent Dodson (John) and Jeff (Kim Sargent); his grandchildren, Matt Dodson (Maggie), Mallory Marcoux (Clint) and Harley Sargent; and his great grandchildren, Kirksey Marcoux, Blythe Dodson, Hattie Marcoux, Sam Dodson and Virginia Marcoux.
